How do I look after my Leather Hat?

Here are some tips to help you take good care of your leather hat:

The general hat care advice for cleaning and looking after leather hats is to keep the condition of the hat topped up with a moisturiser/conditioner spray. These are available from outdoor specialist shops. It's worth taking your hat with you for advice on the best product to use. Always test in a small inconspicuous area before applying to the rest of the hat.

If your hat is water resistant, to maintain both the water-repellent properties and the condition of the leather, we recommend applying a suitable waterproofing spray and leather conditioner periodically. We sell a Barmah Waterproofer and Conditioner Spray which you can find here.

Water resistant hats can offer protection in light to moderate rain but, as with most water-resistant leather products, prolonged exposure to heavy rain can lead to saturation.

If your hat gets wet, shake off any excess water and allow your hat to dry naturally away from heat sources.

Keep your hat away from direct sunlight and heat sources and don't leave them in cars.

If your hat is foldable, we don't recommend keeping them folded for too long. Ideally, they would be stored unfolded and flat on their brim.

If you have a suede hat, it is recommended to lightly brush them with a suede brush weekly to remove any dirt build up.

Always ensure the hat is fully dry before wearing or storing.
